Welcome to Avon Federation
Welcome to The Avon Federation of Women’s Institutes.
Thank you for visiting The Avon Federation of Women’s Institutes website.
We’re delighted you’ve found us!
The Women's Institute ( WI ) has been bringing women together since 1915, and today we have hundreds of thousands of members across England, Wales and the Islands. Every member has her own story, her own interests and her own reasons for joining, but we all share the opportunity to make friends, learn new things, enjoy new experiences and have our voices heard.
Perhaps you’ve found us through a friend’s recommendation, a search on social media or simply by browsing online. Whatever brought you here, this could be the start of something wonderful!
Avon Federation covers a diverse and vibrant area, including South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Bath and North East Somerset. With more than eighty individual Women’s Institutes across our region, there’s a wonderful variety of groups, activities and opportunities to explore.
WIs meet monthly, offering a warm welcome, the chance to make new friends, enjoy interesting speakers, try different activities and share experiences with women in your local community.
You don’t need to know anything about the WI before you visit, and there’s no pressure to join.
Why not come along to a local meeting, contact our office or get in touch with me directly to find out much more? We’d love to help you discover what the WI could offer you.
Your WI journey could start with just one visit — and who knows where it might lead!
We look forward to meeting you
Best wishes
