Welcome to Avon Federation of WIs

Avon Federation was formed in 1975,  includes the vibrant cities of Bristol and Bath and the surrounding towns and villages. With  90   WIs and approximately 3700 members we offer diverse opportunities to  members of an increasing population.   Avon Federation  covers an area which includes South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath and Northeast Somerset and Bristol .

The WI is a subscription-based charity and is unique in being the largest women’s charity and a well-respected  voice in the community since 1915.  We have been campaigning since 1918 on topics such as ‘Dental Health Matters’, Clean Rivers for People & Wildlife’ , ‘Thinking Differently – Autistic and ADHD Women and Girls’  and ‘No More Violence Against Women’  to name but a few past resolutions.

Whatever your interests, we want to hear from you . We will contact you directly or put you in touch with your local WI to visit yourself.   There are WIs that meet in the evening, morning or afternoon  and just recently we also have  our new Skylarks WI – which is  a virtual evening WI  and open to any woman , wherever you are.

As a member you can also access the FREE WI Leaning HUB  ( VIA), from your armchair , joining members from other  Federations/Counties, learning together.  The Federation also run a range of events  which can  include craft workshops, talks on history, the environment, arts, outings and so on.

We encourage women to visit several WIs before deciding which one to join, and of course, we facilitate the opening of new WIs once a venue and group of friends have contacted us.
