About the Bath WI
Welcome to the Bath WI – we meet the first Wednesday of every month, usually at St Mary's, Bathwick, where doors open at 7.30pm and we usually finish about 9.30pm. You can read more about us on our website: thebathwi.com, on our Facebook page: facebook.com/BathWI and on Twitter: twitter.com/TheBathWI or just come along and have a chat with other members and the Committee (Committee members wear Bath WI aprons and flower name badges) and see what you think of us.
The Bath WI has a number of regular sub-groups:
- The Bath WI garden is a little bit of (edible) Heaven within the Bath Botanical Gardens in Victoria Park, Bath. The design is put together each year by Kitty, who also oversees the rota of volunteers for digging, planting, watering and harvesting. If you would like to be involved with the garden either speak to Kitty or email thebathwi@gmail.com.
- Book club meets the third Wednesday of the month. It is run by Elaine and they meet at club members' houses. Please let Elaine know or email thebathwi@gmail.com if you would like to come along and we'll make sure you get on the email list so you know the book and where the meeting is taking place (book club meetings usually involve cocktails so you may prefer not to drive!)
- Crafty Nights Out are arranged by Sally and usually take place on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Some months have someone teaching a particular craft (often taught by one of our members, so please let us know if you have a craft or skill you can share) and sometimes just an opportunity to bring along whatever you are working on and have a bit of a chat and some cake. Details are included on Karen's main email newsletter, but Sally also provides more info by email so please contact thebathwi@gmail.com if you would like to be added to the crafty mailing list.
- The Bath WI darts team, the Bath Buns are all beginners and are looking to put together a squad so they can take turns competing – practices are a lot of fun! They practise and have home matches at the Pultney Arms and again please email thebathwi@gmail.com if you would like to join in.
We like to support a number of charities and at every meeting collect used stamps and each time the tin is full we send them to a charity, and we collect small change for ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World). In addition a couple of times a year we collect for the Bath food bank and the Bath Women's Refuge – we will give advance notice of these collection at meetings, in our newsletter and on social media.
