Craft Groups

Craft Group & Coffee Morning

This group meets at 11.00am downstairs in the Royal Inn, on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month and takes the form of a "knit and natter" group, or just come for a coffee.

Just bring whatever handicraft you are working on, be it knitting, crochet, sewing etc. or just come for a coffee and chat.

WI members are encouraged to take part in the handicraft section of either the Portishead's  Spring Flower Show (March) or the Portishead Summer Show (last weekend in July ~ previously known as the "Flower Show and Country Fair"), either as an individual or as part of a Group Entry.  Each year we like to enter at least one Group Entry in the Annual Show, how about forming your own group next year?  Look our for the Show Schedules which come out in the spring.

These shows also offer individuals the opportunity to show off other skills such as baking; jam making; flower arranging; painting; photography. There are, as could be expected at these type of shows, a myriad of vegetable classes and specimen flower(s); as well as classes for such things as eggs; honey production and woodworking amongst others, there is often even a dog show to enter. You can also support these shows even if you don't do craft, just turn up as a spectator.

Harbourside WI usually also enters a Walking Group in the Portishead Carnival, so an evening meeting may be convened in the future when crafters may be called upon to help out with costumes and/or props for our WI's entry, watch out for announcements in the spring/early summer.

We will hold occasional Evening Craft Group meetings for special projects, as and when the need arises. Members will be notified of these either by the monthly Newsletter and/or announcements at our Monday evening WI meetings, usually with a sign-up sheet on the table at the back of the hall.
