Warburtons
Our April visit was to the Warburtons production plant at Severnside. On arrival we were taken to a meeting room where, over a cup of coffee, we were given an introductory talk and watched a video presentation on the history and activities of the company.
For hygiene purposes we asked to put on blue protective overalls and white overshoes and remove jewellery and watches. Wedding rings were covered with blue sticky tape and gloves provided to cover nail varnish. Red hair coverings were also provided (oh, didn't we look great!) and we washed our hands before entering the production area.
The two guides ensured we had a very informative trip around the various production lines with detailed explanations of the different products, processes and machinery. We returned to the meeting room where there was an opportunity to ask questions and more information was forthcoming, including the future plans for the company and their efforts to become carbon neutral. After such an enjoyable and interesting visit we all made our various ways home clutching large goodie bags.
