February Meeting 2022 - Jack Cleeve from Living Strong

Jack, Dr Mike and Samara joined our meeting from Living Strong, a Chiropractors based at Kestrel Court in Portishead. Dr Mike started with asking us what is health and why is it important? Do we leave health decisions until we are actually ill or do we have a plan to improve our health so we can go into old age in our best shape? How do we know if we are healthy? He suggested we all write yourselves a health plan: think about what it means to you; are there things you could do to improve your health such as drink more water or eat healthier, or start some exercise. Motivate yourself with goals and place your plan in an obvious place like on your fridge so you can see it every day. Small improvements/small goals and possibly bigger rewards. Your bodies health is part genetics; part trauma but mainly down to lifestyle choices. Living Strong takes a holistic approach to your health looking at the whole body and the way it can heal itself by sending clear messages to the brain via the spine. The body and the systems within need to be balanced. Your nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) control everything in your body and mind and when your nervous system works well, your body is self-healing, self-regulating and robust. When the spine is misaligned this puts pressure on nerves so clear signals are no longer reaching the brain. At Living Strong they are attempting to locate and correct any issues to restore proper function which in the future may help us feel better, prevent future problems, reduce the effects of your current aging process and therefore have better quality of life. They do this with chiropractic medicine and adjustments of the spine along with advice on exercises, diet etc. This was a very interesting talk and it seems as though it sparked a lot of interest with members. We were all offered a voucher for a free initial assessment which includes consultation; measurements of movement and posture; strength and thermal measurements (normally £90).
