President's December 2022 Address

The last address regarding the Roman calendar . As will no doubt have worked out that this month in 75BC would have been the tenth. DECEM means tenth.

What a year this has been . Who would have thought that after going through the challenges and fears of Covid that as a world we are now witness to a devastating war. This conflict is very much on our doorstep and is affecting us all in a number of ways and I suspect may also change how we live our lives in the future .

What happens next in the world is beyond our personal control but what we can do is look closer to home for comfort and stability amongst family and friends.

I personally have such a lot to be thankful for. I have a small but special family and live in a vibrant town in a democratic country. I enjoy the company of good supportive friends and have the pleasure to know some very inspirational people.

At this time of year emotions often rise to the surface and not all of them are positive. If you know of anyone struggling in some way, I am sure in the spirit of the WI and friendship you / we will give a helping hand or even just lend an ear .

Thank you all for your exceptional generosity to the charities we are supporting this year. It really does make a difference.

I hope you all have an enjoyable, safe, peaceful festive season. I look forward to another interesting , positive, uplifting and enjoyable 2023 as President and member of Marina WI.
