President's October 2022 Address
As we have learned in the last few presidents addresses, we used to use in the very distant past the early Roman calendar when October was the eighth month and comes unsurprisingly from the Latin Octo meaning 8. Apparently, efforts were made to change the name when the calendar changed but to no avail.
It is widely considered to be the month to prepare for winter: harvest our crops, store food and if you are like me, to bake. I have picked many apples from my tree this year and bags of blanched fruit wait in my freezer to be added to comforting winter crumbles.
It’s a beautiful month to enjoy stunning autumn colours. Hope you all manage to stop, take a moment or two to stand and stare and breathe in the beauty of nature. Don’t feel guilty as it’s very good for you.
